Heavy-duty Retractable Power Units installed at Celtic Park
THE PROJECT
Pop Up Power Supplies Ltd® was delighted to be selected to install three retractable service power units at Celtic Football Club. These heavy-duty units, each weighing half a ton, were installed discreetly beneath the stadium’s perimeter, ensuring they remained out of sight when not in use. When needed, these units can be effortlessly raised, providing accessible outdoor power solutions for the club.
IT'S A GOAL!
The units chosen were In-ground power units, specifically designed for high-traffic areas like sports stadiums. Manufactured from high-grade mild steel and hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461, these units offer exceptional durability and protection against corrosion. Each unit has been rigorously tested and meets FACTA Class B load ratings, ensuring they are robust enough to withstand foot traffic and vehicle access. The cover of each power unit is recessed to perfectly accommodate the surrounding surface — in this case, the turf.
The technical services team at Celtic FC needed a reliable power source to operate specialist hydroponic equipment that nurtures the growth of the stadium’s grass pitch. Pop Up Power’s retractable power units provided the ideal solution, offering waterproof power feeds for safe and reliable use.
When activated, the ground staff can access multiple 125-amp 3-phase sockets, ensuring the power needed for the hydroponic systems is readily available. Both the power units and cabling were installed and commissioned by Springfield Engineers over a 6-week period, ensuring everything was up and running smoothly.
In addition to Retractable power units, Pop Up Power also offers a range of electrical Bollards designed to blend seamlessly into the surrounding environment, providing safe outdoor electrical access.
