It’s been a busy and fulfilling year for us here at Pop Up Power. Our projects have been diverse to say the least! We have seen our power units installed all over the country and further afield. From shopping centres and market places to canal moorings and glamming sites. Here we highlight just a few of our favourites....

We were particularly delighted to be asked to supply 13 electricity units at The Hepworth Wakefield. The Hepworth Wakefield Garden is one of the UK’s largest free public gardens. Devised by Tom Stuart -Smith to be a vibrant and tranquil space for visitors throughout the years. Pop Up Power Supplies were contracted to install the new units within the grounds of the gallery gardens to provide a safe and secure electricity supply. We installed PUPS3030 Floor-boxes around the perimeter of the area and this allows electricity to be accessed from multiple and varying points. Manufactured entirely from stainless steel the Floor-box is fitted with 16A single phase IP67 sockets. The Hepworth has 12 of these units. The PUPS02 In-Ground Unit allows for power distribution to be entirely hidden even during operation. The cover for each unit is slightly recessed and infilled with the exact substrate of the surrounding area. Each unit is seamlessly hidden within the ground and the power cables then run directly from the unit to the nearby stall. Each cable has a safety guard protector.

Excitingly, developers of the Al Mouj Muscat beachfront resort in Oman required an outdoor power source for its collection of luxurious facilities and amenities. Conditions and criteria for the power units were strict, as they had to not only blend in to the beautiful aesthetics of the resort, but had to offer a practical and sustainable power source that was fit for purpose.

 Their search took them to us, here in the UK, where a collaborative effort between Pop Up Power Supplies® and Fabweld Steel Products (FSP) successfully specified a range of in ground power units for the luxury development. Situated on the stunning Oman waterfront, Al Mouj Muscat is a thriving community filled with a mix of residential and commercial buildings. The mixed-use development spans 6 km along the beach front and offers exceptional living spaces and leisure facilities.

Incorporating around 6,000 new homes, international hotels, a 400 berth marina, an 18 hole PGA championship golf course, retail units, dining experiences and other leisure facilities, Al Mouj Muscat epitomises modern living by embracing community spirit.

A total of 56 In-ground units were supplied to the Al Mouj Muscat development. The majority of which were located around The Wave Hotel – a seven story, two hundred bed luxury hotel!

A little closer to home, this year also saw construction start for a new Travelodge Hotel, located on the Southwater Square complex, Telford. The leisure complex features a range of retail and dining facilities, as well as a new public green space and events area. The events area is adjacent to the Travelodge Hotel, surrounded by various coffee shops, restaurants and shops for visitors. As a result, developers of the new build construction required an outdoor power source that would power various events e.g. promotional stalls and kiosks, that was safe for nearby pedestrians.

Pop Up Power Supplies® and Fabweld Steel Products (FSP) joined together in a collective effort to provide a range of In- ground power units for the leisure complex. Our units were specified because they provide a safe and secure outdoor power source with the lids locked down. Their lids can be infilled with a wide range of surface materials, therefore the paving used in the events area could be integrated into the lids. So when the lids are down they blend seamlessly into the surroundings.

Moving forward into 2024 Pop Up Power Supplies® will be pleased to supply a range of bespoke power solutions for all your outdoor events. Event organisers and relevant construction professionals need to ensure that outdoor public spaces are secure and safe for visitors, pedestrian access must be as clear as possible and any risk of electrocution or trip hazards are minimal. Our retractable units are space saving and mitigate the need for generators, which are polluting, noisey and unsuitable for areas with children and busy with visitors.

The three main units in the range – pop up units, power bollards and in-ground, all of which provide a range of outdoor power. Each unit is available with a range of configurations, as well as bespoke in-ground power units or pop up units with recessed tops that can accommodate different forms of surface material such as paving, grass and unusual materials.

Our resolution for the New Year ahead will be to provide an outdoor power supply for local towns throughout the UK and to work closely with architects, contractors, event organisers, council planners, and other professionals, to ensure successful specification and project success, for outdoor areas that require a power supply for the year ahead!
