Power solutions for outdoor events involve providing electricity for lighting, sound systems, food stalls and kiosks, and other equipment needed to create a successful event. And not only that, as specifiers need to take into consideration the local environment. Common requirements and settings include:
Each setting will have its own challenges and opportunities for designing power solutions into.
Here at Pop Up Power Supplies®, we supply outdoor power units suitable for a range of environments and applications. We recommend that collaboration starts as early as possible within the specification process. This way it gives much more design freedom to ensure our power units can be designed in a way that enhances your local area while being fit for purpose for your client’s power requirements.
Specialising in planning, designing and installing outdoor power solutions, a big part in the service offered by Pop Up Power Supplies® is working closely with clients in their specification project tender process.
THE GROWING NEED FOR SAFE, SECURE POWER SOLUTIONS AT OUTDOOR EVENTS

Outdoor events are a popular way to bring people together for a variety of occasions, from market days, university open days, music festivals, food fairs, and weddings and corporate gatherings.
However, one of the key challenges of hosting an outdoor event is ensuring that there is a reliable source of power to keep everything running smoothly. Traditional power sources such as petrol generators are used to provide an outdoor power source for events. Generators do provide an element of flexibility and versatility, however it is their safety considerations that are sometimes brought into question.
Firstly, having a petrol generator in the open poses a possible electrocution risk to nearby pedestrians. The generators themselves also pose a tripping risk to pedestrians and event organisers.
Another drawback is that generators are noisy and produce fumes and other pollution, which can be oppressive for nearby people.
WHAT'S THE ALTERNATIVE?
A solution for a safe, more reliable, and cleaner outdoor power source is our range of outdoor electrical distribution units which are popular among UK specifiers. A solution for specifiers and event organisers is the range of outdoor power units from Pop Up Power Supplies®. We have three core weatherproof power units which are ideal for the built environment.

POP UP UNIT
Our Pop Up Units can be raised and lowered on demand. Therefore when needed, event organisers simply raise out of the ground with a handle (supplied with each power unit). And when the event is over, they are lowered back into the ground.

IN-GROUND UNIT
Our In Ground Units are installed into the ground and event organisers simply open the surface lid, connect up the power, and close the lid. These units provide a continuous power source while locked away.

POWER BOLLARD
Our Power Bollards provide an outdoor power source in elegant street format. They are installed around a perimeter area within a public space, functioning as a bollard helping to protect pedestrian zones while also providing a safe and reliable power source.
Importantly, all our outdoor power units are weatherproof and can withstand the elements due to their robust construction. They are manufactured from materials such as stainless steel, cast iron and concrete (depending on the model).
OUTDOOR POWER SOLUTION PROJECTS

OUTDOOR POWER UNITS IN A TOWN CENTRE
Our Flip Lid Power Units were installed in public areas in the town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, for their market events they hold on a weekly basis.
The power units are manufactured in high grade mild steel and hot dipped galvanised to BS EN:ISO1461. Each unit is tested infilled to FACTA Class B loadings. The cover of each unit was neatly recessed and therefore accommodated the exact paving surrounding the power supply.

We worked closely with Council Planners and the chosen Contractors. They were pleased with the power units as not only did they benefit from a safe source of outdoor electricity for the local market stalls, but there was minimal impact on the integrity and beauty of the local area.

OUTDOOR POWER SOLUTION FOR RETAIL PARK
Pop Up Power Supplies® also worked closely with shopping centre owners and their chosen Contractors at Gallions Reach Shopping Park, London.
Here, a total of eight PUPS3030 Floor boxes were specified and installed around the perimeter of the site giving access to electricity from multiple points. The outdoor area within the shopping park is used for market stalls and small-scale entertainment events.

UNIVERSITY OPEN DAYS
Developers and architects working on Exeter University designed a range of our PUPS01 Pop Up Power Units into the communal space outside their Forum building, which is the central hub of their Streatham Campus.
The quad area houses various open days and student events throughout the year, and now the University benefits from a power unit that provides a safe and secure power source. And when it is not needed, it is simply lowered back into the ground.
An added benefit is the power units were designed with the paving infill that was used in the communal outdoor area, meaning when lowered into the ground the units appear seamless to the campus communal space.
Can we help with your requirements for a retractable power units for heritage sites?
Pop Up Power Supplies® provide a range of retractable service units for Heritage Sites across the UK. National trusts, estates departments, facilities managers, architects, contractors and electrical engineers appreciate our power units compared to traditional generators, due to the retractable nature of the units and the increased safety they bring to public areas.
