Traditional market days are a vibrant experience across towns and cities in the UK, where buyers and sellers come together in a community environment.
As key supporters of such market days, councils recognise the economic and social benefits these events bring, but set strict guidelines for traders to ensure maximum safety for staff and shoppers alike. Pedestrian access has to be as clear as possible with no tripping hazards, and the risk of electrocution has to be minimal. Public areas should be safe and comfortable for shoppers.

POP UP UNITS
Pop Up Units are a discreet, versatile and retractable power unit that provide electricity and data points to a range of outside spaces.
One of their key advantages over more traditional power sources e.g. power generators, is their versatility. During market days, stall owners and traders simply raise the pop up power unit where they have access to a range of power sockets.
These range from 16A to 125A power supply in both single and three phase, all with RCBO protection. When the market event finishes, the power units are simply lowered back into the ground until the next event, where they blend seamlessly with the local environment.
IN GROUND UNITS
Our In-ground units (IGU) provide a continuous source of outdoor power and are a major benefit for council planners, specifiers and land owners is that the units can be operated while unattended. So the lids can be locked down with the cables connected to nearby stalls.
This means they can provide a stable power supply for outdoor markets and stalls preventing any public access and reducing trip hazards. The power sockets are safely located within the high-grade mild steel structure, which is hot dip galvanised to BS EN: ISO1461.
There are six models to choose from – Slim IGU, PUPS 03, PUPS Floorbox, PUPS02 4040, PUPS02 5050, and the PUPS02 7050.
POWER BOLLARDS
Our Power Bollards provide an outdoor power supply in elegant street furniture format. They are used for outdoor market events which are located in car parks or open public areas situated next to roads or where cars and vehicles have access.
A primary function of our Power Bollards is to provide a safe and secure outdoor power source, as well as traffic mitigation and public safety measures. Our power bollards are more of a permanent outdoor power source compared with our Pop Up units or In-ground units, but still a popular choice for urban planners, council planners and market day organisers.
You are able to customise a power bollard from the following criteria:
Available in three standard diameters – 250mm, 325mm, and 500mm.
Available in four styles – parc paris top, domed top, sloping top, and button top.
A stainless steel bollard can provide between 220 and 400 volts and 125A of power. They are available with configurations to suit client’s needs, plus additional equipment is available.
IN-GROUND UNITS AT STAMFORD TOWN CENTRE
Our In-ground power units were installed in public areas in the town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, for their market events that they hold on a weekly basis.
Council Planners were pleased with the power units as not only did they benefit from a safe source of outdoor electricity for the local market stalls, but there was minimal impact on the integrity and beauty of the local area.
POP UP UNITS AT RUGBY TOWN CENTRE
A range of our Pop Up power units were installed in Rugby town centre, including the PUPS01 and PUPS05 units. This is a historic market event and has been trading since 1235 under Royal Charter.
The units were installed in 2005 and have been used three days a week for thirteen years (for market events). They are still in good working order and provide an effective outdoor power supply for market stalls.
POWER BOLLARDS AT GRAVESHAM
Our range of Power Bollards have also been installed to power outdoor market events. A number of our bollard units were installed in a public area outside the local civic centre at Gravesham.
The power units were specified in a Button Top Supply Bollard with hatch closure, and have very limited impact on the aesthetics of the area as they are placed around the perimeter area next to walls.
