IN GROUND UNITS – A TECHNICAL OVERVIEW
One of the biggest advantages of our In Ground Power Units is that they can be operated with the lid locked down. This is particularly useful for retail outlets and shopping centres as it means stalls and kiosks can be safely powered in public areas. Not only is the power source safely locked away in the power unit, but it also means minimal trailing wires across public areas, posing potential tripping hazard for nearby shoppers.
The power sockets are safely located within the steel unit, so only the power cables protrude out of the unit and can be managed easily for nearly pedestrians with cable guards.
The flip lid nature of the units means the power sockets are easily accessible for users. They are opened and closed using hydraulics meaning it is a smooth process. Our range of In Ground Units are constructed of high grade steel plate for a sturdy and durable solution, have a unit depth from 250mm to 550mm, and can provide a total power supply of 32, 63 or 125 amps.
Another advantage is that the lids can be infilled with most materials, so you can match the surrounding flooring material for a seamless finish.

Our In Ground Power Units have been specified on many shopping centre refurbishment projects across the UK, including PUPS02 Flip Lid Units at New Mersey Shopping Park (Liverpool); and PUPS3030 Floorboxes at Gallions Reach Shopping Park (London).
A total of eight PUPS3030 Floorboxes were specified and installed at Gallions Reach Shopping Park, London. They are installed around the perimeter of the site giving access to electricity from multiple points. The outdoor area within the shopping park is used for market stalls and small-scale entertainment events.
The PUPS02 In Ground Units at New Mersey Shopping Park provide power distribution and are totally hidden even in operation. The cover for the power units are recessed and filled with matching surface finish. Just the power cables protrude out of the units and run to nearby stalls and kiosks, but safely guarded with cable protectors.
