Public spaces don’t stay pedestrian-only for long, if at all.
Market squares also act as delivery routes and loading points, waterfronts have a constant supply of loading vehicles, and event sites are visited by everything from catering vans, equipment supply vans, food trucks to emergency access vehicles. Power infrastructure installed in these locations has to survive all this traffic plus foot fall, yet much of what's specified for outdoor power in the UK has never been designed with excess vehicle loads in mind.
The result is power infrastructure that either can't be sited where it's actually needed or fails prematurely when traffic passes over it that it was never built to handle. Covers crack, seals fail, and what was meant to be a discreet, permanent solution becomes a recurring maintenance problem, or worse, a safety hazard in a space used by both pedestrians and vehicles.
The PUPS03, is built specifically for this type of demand. Flip lid power unit, model PUPS03 for the distribution of energy and data services. Frame and cover made from D400 cast iron EN 124 cover complete with two cable outlets to allow to use the unit with its cover closed. Non-slip surface according to UNI EN 124 class D400; surface features the mandatory class D400, EN 124 and certification body mark. The cast iron cover and frame is manufactured in certified facilities according to ISO 9001 quality standards. Complete with RBK concrete containment chamber with the following external dimensions 590 x 590 x h577mm.
Manual lifting assisted with two gas rams and release key. Closing is secured by a AISI 304 stainless steel bronzed bayonet lock, operated by its square profiled key. Inside, the electrical equipment containment box with IP 66 protection IEC 60 529 and CE70 1 double insulation in thermoplastic material free of self-extinguishing halogen, painted grey RAL 7035 resistant to abnormal heat and fire up to 650°C (incandescent wire test according to IEC 60 695-2-1). Elastomer sealing gaskets for dimensional stability in continuous operation from -20°C to +85°C. Resistance to chemical agents (water, saline solutions, acids, bases and oils) and atmospheric agents. Reference standards: CEI 23-48 and IEC 60 670. This system is suitable for manufacturing equipment and for places with a higher risk of fire (IEC 64-8/7).
The unit connects via a standard junction box, supporting 230V/400V at 50-60Hz, with socket protection to IP67 in line with EN 60947-1 and EN 61439. As with the rest of the range, it can be specified with RJ data, video and telephone jacks, and energy consumption meters. Making it suitable for sites where power sits alongside other service demands.
