The All England Club, based at Church Road, London, hosts the only Grand Slam tennis event still held on grass. During the 14-day schedule, the club hosts almost 550,000 guests!
The area covers a huge 42 acres and has the capacity to host 42,000 spectators at a time. There are 18 championship grass courts, 20 practice courts, and 8 American clay courts.
Apart from the grass courts, the courts are used all year round. The courts are lent to a number of clubs and organisations for the staging of various events.
The famous tennis ground hosts broadcast services and many of the matches are televised. The BBC’s coverage often exceeds digital records and boasts 54.3 million streams.
The All England Club is home to an international line up of 27 commentators and 31 directors delivering news to a global audience. 160 cameras and 195 microphones are deployed throughout the site. This technology requires a safe and consistent electricity supply. Pop Up Power Supplies® provide the infrastructure needed for this constant media presence.
They supplied In-Ground power units to be installed within the members lawn area of the club. The units were required to provide audio and video connections for both cameras and microphones. The units supplied in this case were specifically built and discreetly positioned beneath the decking that surrounds the lawn. Each unit has a recessed cover that contains a section of the decking surface. Each unit can therefore be neatly hidden. Each unit provides a safe, secure and silent source of electricity.
Pop Up Power Supplies® manufacture and supply a range of innovative retractable power units which are ideal for powering technology. But also provide electricity for kiosks and vans for hospitality and refreshments. Two popular options include Pop Up Power Units and In-Ground Power Units. Both units provide a sensitive source of electricity for any sporting venue, importantly they are incredibly safe. Subtle design for electricity supplies and power outlets can go unconsidered but in order to retain the beauty of the area and landscaping of such a prestigious club it is necessary to select carefully.
As the In-Ground units are designed to provide power to users with the flip-lid locked down, they can provide round-the-clock power for days, weeks or even months on end with confidence. This minimises the potential for damage as only the power cables protrude – these are as short as they possibly can be and when covered with cable protectors they present no significant trip hazard, perfect for an area with heavy footfall and visitors.
Pop Up Power works closely with landscape architects, sporting contractors, and other professionals, to ensure the successful specification of power units and project success every time.
