POP UP UNITS

A versatile range of discreet, retractable service units to suit every location.
VIEW POP UP UNITSInnovation is a key driver for such developments and advancing technology plays a big role in making urban places safer and more inspiring.
Traditional power sources such as petrol generators are used to provide an outdoor power source for events such as market days or open days. However, these can be loud and disruptive for nearby pedestrians.
A solution for a safe, more reliable, and cleaner outdoor power source is our range of outdoor electrical distribution units which are popular among UK specifiers.
Pop Up Power Supplies® supply a range of versatile, discreet, and outdoor power supply units for construction professionals and councils – including a Pop Up Unit, In-Ground Power Unit, and a Power Bollard.
Town centres are being re-developed by councils looking to drive local shoppers back to the high street to favour local, independent retailers and cafes. Here, market days, craft and food festivals, charity fundraisers and more events are held to engage communities and encourage shoppers to visit.
Event organisers have traditionally turned to petrol generators to provide an electrical supply for stalls. These have served a purpose, but now are considered by many as not the favoured approach.
Firstly, having a petrol generator in the open poses a possible electrocution risk to nearby pedestrians. The generators themselves also pose a tripping risk to pedestrians and event organisers. Another drawback is that generators are noisy and produce fumes and other pollution, which can be oppressive for nearby people.
A solution for specifiers and event organisers is the range of outdoor power units from Pop Up Power Supplies®. We have three core weatherproof power units which are ideal for the built environment.
We have three core weatherproof power units which are ideal for the built environment.
Our Pop Up Units can be raised and lowered on demand. Therefore when needed, event organisers simply raise out of the ground with a handle (supplied with each power unit). And when the event is over, they are lowered back into the ground.
Our In Ground Units are installed into the ground and event organisers simply open the surface lid, connect up the power, and close the lid. These units provide a continuous power source while locked away.
Our Power Bollards provide an outdoor power source in elegant street format. They are installed around a perimeter area within a public space, functioning as a bollard helping to protect pedestrian zones while also providing a safe and reliable power source.
Importantly, all our outdoor power units are weatherproof and can withstand the elements due to their robust construction. They are manufactured from materials such as stainless steel, cast iron and concrete (depending on the model).
For our range of Pop Up Power Units, the unit casing is not water tight, it has no IP rating. Electrical equipment installed has a rating of IP67. Specifying and designing outdoor power units for public areas can be a challenging process.

Architects, urban designers, developers, and other construction professionals have to ensure the power supply is fit for the purpose intended, as well as complying with public safety requirements.
Pop Up Power Supplies® specialises in planning, designing and installing outdoor power solutions for the built environment. We work closely with construction professionals with their specification project tender process.
Developers and architects working on Exeter University designed a range of our PUPS01 Pop Up Power Units into the communal space outside their Forum building, which is the central hub of their Streatham Campus.
The quad area houses various open days and student events throughout the year, and now the University benefits from a power unit that provides a safe and secure power source. And when it is not needed, it is simply lowered back into the ground.
An added benefit is the power units were designed with the paving infill that was used in the communal outdoor area, meaning when lowered into the ground the units appear seamless to the campus communal space.
Our Flip Lid Power Units were installed in public areas in the town of Stamford, Lincolnshire, for their market events they hold on a weekly basis.
Manufactured in high grade mild steel and hot dipped galvanised to BS EN:ISO1461. Each unit is tested infilled to FACTA Class B loadings. The cover of each unit was neatly recessed and therefore accommodated the exact paving surrounding the power supply.
Council Planners were pleased with the power units as not only did they benefit from a safe source of outdoor electricity for the local market stalls, but there was minimal impact on the integrity and beauty of the local area.
Finally, our power bollards were installed outside the local civic centre in Gravesham, Kent. It is a popular venue for various outdoor festivals and other events, and there was a requirement for an outdoor power supply to power various stalls and activities.
Specified in a button top Supply Bollard with hatch closure, the slim bollards are located around the perimeter area next to walls, and as a result have a limited impact on the outdoor area.
