ST PAUL'S CHURCH
Helping Breathe New Life into Historic St Paul’s Church, Perth
As part of this major redevelopment, Pop Up Power Supplies® were commissioned to provide modern electrical infrastructure that respects the historical significance of the building. The church, originally built in the early 1800s, has seen its roof, windows, and doors removed, with the steeple and walls preserved to create an atmospheric open-air venue.
Contractor Hadden Group oversaw the careful restoration and structural works, while Pop Up Power Supplies® delivered essential utility services without compromising the aesthetics or heritage of the site. The installation replaces the need for unsightly generators and trailing cables with elegant, discreet retractable service units.
Eight PUPS 04 retractable power units were installed at the site. Each unit can provide a 63 amp single or three-phase incoming supply and is capable of delivering electricity, and data connections. The units are manually operated and seamlessly retract into the ground when not in use.
Crafted from high-grade mild steel and hot-dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461 standards, the service units are tested to meet FACTA Class B loading specifications. Their recessed covers were custom-designed to match the surrounding paving, ensuring minimal visual impact within the historic setting.
“We’ve worked with clients across the country, providing efficient, sympathetic utility solutions in busy public areas including Chelsea Football Club, Edinburgh Castle, and Covent Garden,”
George Parker of Pop Up Power Supplies Ltd.
This project highlights the versatility of Pop Up Power Supplies®’ extensive product range, which includes Retractable, In-ground, and Bollard power units tailored for public spaces such as town squares, parks, universities, marketplaces, and historic landmarks.
