Outdoor events can be varied in their application, all of which require a safe and secure outdoor power supply:
Specifying and designing outdoor power solutions for outdoor events can be a challenging process. Architects and main contractors need to balance the needs and requirements of their client with the expectations and safety of people who attend the events.
Power solutions for outdoor events involve providing electricity for lighting, sound systems, food stalls and kiosks, and other equipment needed to create a successful event.
And not only that, as specifiers need to take into consideration the local environment. Common requirements and settings include:

Outdoor events are a popular way to bring people together for a variety of occasions, from market days, university open days, music festivals, food fairs, and weddings and corporate gatherings.
However, one of the key challenges of hosting an outdoor event is ensuring that there is a reliable source of power to keep everything running smoothly.
Traditional power sources such as petrol generators are used to provide an outdoor power source for events. Generators do provide an element of flexibility and versatility, however it is their safety considerations that are sometimes brought into question.
Firstly, having a petrol generator in the open poses a possible electrocution risk to nearby pedestrians. The generators themselves also pose a tripping risk to pedestrians and event organisers.
Another drawback is that generators are noisy and produce fumes and other pollution, which can be oppressive for nearby people.

These feature various specifications, uses and benefits for powering outdoor spaces.
For architects, our retractable service units provide a safe and secure outdoor power supply, in units that are fully retractable when not in use. This means on days where there are no market days, the units are lowered back into the ground and blend seamlessly with the local environment.
For main contractors and sub-contractors, our outdoor power units provide a reliable power supply for market stall and land owners, that is fit for purpose, will stand the test of time, and are easy to install as only light excavation is needed to install them into the ground.

Locations such as Covent Garden (London), Stamford (Lincolnshire) and Gravesham (Kent) all benefit from our innovative pop up power units which provide a reliable power supply while being sensitive to local surroundings.
POP UP UNITS
Pop Up Units, also known as Retractable Service Units, are incredibly versatile units that provide electricity or data points for public areas. The ‘pop up’ nature of these units carry many safety benefits for outdoor areas. One of their main benefits is that they can be raised and lowered easily by the user with a detachable handle. So when they are no longer needed they are lowered back into the ground, therefore posing no risk to the public on a permanent basis. It also keeps the units safe from weather elements and potential vandalism.
The Pop Up Units provide outdoor power sockets ranging from 16A to 12 5A power supply in both single and three phase, all with RCBO protection. The sockets are housed within sturdy concrete and cast iron casings. The unit covers are made up of stainless steel AISI304 and offer significant protection to the power units when they are fully retracted.
The power units are supplied complete, therefore once they have been designed to the suitable specification, it is delivered to site where all the contractor needs to do then is to dig the required hole and install the unit.
Six of our Pop Up Units were installed in the Piazza area at Covent Garden, London. The 450kg power supply units are buried out of site beneath the famous cobbled Piazza and are raised out of the ground by event organisers when required by a turning handle.
When not in use the units do not impact on the historic appearance of the Piazza as the lids were infilled with the cobbled surface material. This means architects can safely specify the outdoor power units knowing they will have minimal impact on the local area.
IN GROUND POWER UNITS
Our range of In Ground Power Units (also known as Flip Lid Units) are also a safe option for powering outside spaces and public places. They are suitable for outdoor spaces, festivals, market days and other public areas. They are a relatively compact design and one of their best features is that they can be operated with the lid locked down.
Our Flip Lid Units can provide a stable power supply to outdoor markets stalls, while preventing any public access or trip hazards that traditional power generators pose. The outdoor power sockets are safely located within the high-grade mild steel structure, which is hot dip galvanised to BS EN: ISO1461.
A number of our In Ground Units were installed in central areas within Stamford, Lincolnshire. Council Planners in Stamford required a power source for outdoor stalls on market days, to replace all the unsightly power generators that were used to power the stalls. The power units provide a range of outdoor power sockets for the market day stalls and can be operated with the lids locked down. This prevents any public access which helps to keep nearby pedestrians safe, making them a perfect power source for urban areas.
Another reason why the In Ground Power Units were chosen is the fact that when they aren’t in use, they have a very limited impact on the town’s beautiful aesthetics. The covers of the IGUs are recessed so matching paving can be installed on top, therefore able to adapt to any environment. They are also tested unfilled to FACTA Class B loadings.
POWER BOLLARDS
We also supply a range of Power Bollards in elegant street furniture designs, providing a safe power supply for outdoor areas. We supply in various configurations and finishes:
Three different diameters available; 250mm, 325mm and 500mm
Four configurations for the tops; Parc Paris Top, Domed Top, Button Top and Sloping Top
Available in a powder painted RAL colour, mirrored finish, or custom paint finishes
Our Power Bollards can provide between 220 and 400 volts and 125A of power. They are available with configurations to suit your project’s requirements, plus additional equipment is available for your exact specification.
Our power bollards are located throughout the UK providing reliable and safe power to outdoor events. One such location is in the area outside the civic centre in Gravesham. Council planners at Gravesham Borough Council favoured the power bollards as they provided a stylish and practical power supply for the area outside the civic centre. The bollards are totally encased which means they are a safe option for the area as it gets high levels of footfall all year round. They provide a safe and reliable outdoor power source in an attractive street furniture format.
