THE PROJECT
Pop Up Power Supplies were asked to install retractable service power units at Exeter University, Streatham Campus. The units were specified as the University decided to maximise their external space during open days. They decided that the area outside the new Forum Building could be used to house outdoor stalls.
ON-CAMPUS SUPPLIES
In order for the stalls to operate they needed an outdoor power source - the units chosen were in-ground retractable power units. Each power unit provides a safe, secure and silent source of electricity. Instead of running power cables across walkways the Campus now has retractable power units that can be easily raised and lowered when required.
Manufactured in high grade mild steel and hot dipped galvanised to BS EN:ISO1461, each unit is tested infilled to FACTA Class B loadings. The cover of each unit is recessed and can match the surface surrounding the power supply.
The pop up electric sockets provide a 125A power supply in both single and three phase plug sockets, all with RCBO protection. The units specified at Exeter University comprise of a stainless steel and concrete structure, with a total weight of 450kg. The unit covers are made up of stainless steel AISI304 and offer significant protection to the power units when they are fully retracted. Pop Up Power also supply electricity through bollards in a variety of designs to suit the surroundings.
